Creative learning space for constructive play and the development of creative and divergent thinking for children aged 12 months to 6 years.
Material World, creative learning space
Material World is a Learning by Languages® branded learning environment designed for constructive play and the development of creative and divergent thinking for children aged 12 months to 6 years. It was developed by the Learning by Languages® pedagogical research team, in collaboration with architect Francesco Bombardi and produced by ISAFF New Fontanili.
The guiding concept of its design is the belief that children should not only interact with materials but be able to “inhabit” them, thanks to a structure that invites surprising encounters and new affordances.
The arrangement of volumes revolves around a large central space and four corner towers, which allow the adjustment of surfaces on different levels to encourage a variety of contexts and ergonomic setups.

Openings and perforations are designed to be explored using materials, creating relationships between inside and outside, above and below.
The upper part of the structure can be dismantled to facilitate transport and relocation between different spaces.
Material World serves both as a “container space” and as an “activator” of learning, offering children a new way to experience large-scale informal materials through strong bodily engagement.
It can be enriched with a kit of informal materials that expand learning possibilities. It supports various educational areas, including: constructive play, unplugged coding, physical development, logical-mathematical thinking, social development, language development.
Material World also carries a significant ethical and ecological message, allowing schools and nurseries that adopt it to embrace a new, necessary perspective. It is entirely made from recycled materials, aligning with principles of the circular economy and upcycling.

A self-assessment tool for education professionals working in 0–6 educational services.
Skills Tool
Skills Tool is a tool designed to promote the competencies of professionals working in early childhood education services (0–6 years). Through self-assessment, it guides individual practitioners or work groups in recognizing the skills they have acquired and identifying areas where development is needed, providing suggestions for improvement. Skills Tool is not simply a questionnaire—it’s an in-depth, multidimensional analysis of the professional competencies required in the 0–6 education sector.
The questionnaire serves as an opportunity for reflection, supporting educators, teachers, and pedagogists in evaluating their competencies and acknowledging that these skills can be acquired, enhanced, and refined to face current and future professional challenges with awareness. It’s also an essential tool for identifying training needs, serving as the first step toward defining both personal and team development plans in a context of ongoing professional development.

Thanks to the Skills Tool, educational services can implement training strategies aimed at:
Promoting awareness within their teams.
Capacity building, i.e., developing the ability to adapt and express oneself effectively in diverse contexts.
Identifying strategies and professional tools, while reinterpreting prior knowledge and professional experience.
Skills Tool is the result of research and study conducted by the Learning by Languages® team and Educademi, with scientific supervision by Professor Susanna Mantovani and researchers Piera Braga and Gaia Banzi.
Skills Tool is an exclusive resource available through Professional Social Learning Zero6, a digital platform dedicated to continuous professional development for early childhood educators and teachers, with a strong focus on pedagogical innovation and the design of high-quality educational environments. Through multimedia content, training pathways, and collaborative tools, it promotes reflective and shared professional learning.
