Learning by Languages® at Expo Dubai: innovation, education and creativity during the “Knowledge and Learning” Week

Context

The Learning by Languages® team participated in Expo Dubai 2020 as a representative of Italian educational innovation, during the thematic week “Knowledge and Learning” (12–18 December 2021). The project highlighted the potential of educational and training tools developed for early childhood education, focusing on expressive, scientific, and digital languages.

Objectives

  • Present Learning by Languages® branded tools internationally, particularly i-vulcani and the Skills Tool of the Professional Social Learning platform.
  • Engage educators, stakeholders, and international institutions through interactive and training workshops.
  • Showcase innovative experiences and tools on a global stage.
  • Promote an inclusive, creative, and technologically advanced educational approach for children aged 0 to 10 years.

The contribution of Learning by Languages

During Expo Dubai, the Learning by Languages® team set up an experiential space inside the Italy Pavilion and the Dubai Exhibition Centre. They conducted:

  • Two seminars, also broadcast in blended mode, enabling remote participation and dialogue with international professionals and institutional representatives;
  • Eight workshops focused on education, technology, and lifelong learning, attended by educators and teachers from diverse nationalities, particularly from the Emirates School Establishment;
  • An immersive installation featuring the i-vulcani learning environment—a multisensory, interactive tool for exploring natural phenomena, scientific thinking, and creativity.
  • Presentation of the digital platform Professional Social Learning, designed for educator training and self-assessment;
  • Digital resources, immersive videos, and live streams connecting to educational services in Italy.

Results

  • All in-person events sold out.
  • Over 2,400 views of the streaming sessions.
  • More than 9,000 social media views.
  • High participation in both in-person and online workshops, with registrations from professionals in the education and training sectors.
  • International sharing of innovative pedagogical practices through multimedia content and interactive activities.
  • Institutional recognition: official visit by the Italian Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi.
  • Strengthening the visibility of the Learning by Languages® brand as an Italian model of integrated educational excellence.
  • Meetings with the Emirates College for Advanced Education and Emirates School Establishment, to discuss the foundations for a long-term collaboration.
  • Meeting with the Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority to discuss educational needs within the UAE’s 0–6 system.
  • Official visit to the UAE Pavilion with HE the Director-General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments.

Significance

Participation in Expo Dubai was a unique opportunity to present and bring the Learning by Languages® method to life in an international context dedicated to innovation and the future of education. The values of creativity, sustainability, technology, and personalization found a global stage, emphasizing Italy’s contribution to building open, modern, and connected educational systems.
